Firelake Foods

Please tell us a little bit about the organization you work for.

"FireLake Discount Foods is a community staple since opening its doors in 2001, offering fresh, quality produce, meats and grocery options to the public. With additional locations in McLoud and Tecumseh, the Citizen Potawatomi Nation enterprise currently stands as the largest tribally-owned grocery store in the United States."

What do you love most about Tecumseh?

"I love the people! There is nothing better than driving to work and getting to wave at Mr. Sigman as he waters his garden, or as Jim Smith takes clippings off the flowers for customers to enjoy while they eat, or seeing the city workers help regular citizens clean the up around the lake, just because they care or want it to be better for someone else! ! It's the Vets that come to town to eat lunch and give that same hug that you have known since you were a little girl! It's the people that make Tecumseh what it is, that is what i love most about OUR hometown, Tecumseh!"

What is your greatest hope for the Tecumseh, OK community?

"My greatest hope for Tecumseh is growth! I want to see people come to Tecumseh and want to stay and make it their OWN Hometown too! I want to see more businesses, more activities for the community! I want to see people working together for one common goal, to make Tecumseh better than it was the day before!"

Please tell the membership a bit about you. Share your background, interests, hobbies, and other fun information.

"Born and raised in Tecumseh, OK, I am one of many generations of my family to call Tecumseh "HOME". I have been married for 17 years to Julio Sanchez, and we have 5 children, & 2 granddaughters. 5 out of 7 of our family are or will be graduates of Tecumseh High School, and still remain living & serving in our amazing town of Tecumseh! I spend the past 22 years working at Citizen Potawatomi with some of the best people around and spend my evening chasing my kids all over the state! I bleed Black and Gold, and Cheer for the SAVAGES and love all sports that my children play, i love the outdoors, especially kayaking and i enjoy crafting with all mediums. I love to learn and currently finishing up with some fun courses in weather school offer by the University of Oklahoma."

Why do you believe you have been chosen for this award?

"To be honest, I DON'T deserve this award! I could think of many other individuals that are more deserving of this award then myself! ! I think this award goes to anyone that has helped make our community a better place! We each have our own gifts, i am blessed to have the opportunity to share my gifts with the community and serve!"
