Why you are interested in serving on the Board of Directors?

"Tecumseh is the place I call my hometown. As a graduate of Tecumseh High School I have many childhood memories of this great town and I am motivated to see it continue to thrive. I stayed close to home after graduation raising 3 children in Tecumseh and earning a Bachelors Degree of Science concentration in Accounting from St. Gregory's University in Shawnee. For the past 18 years I've been employed by Gibson & Reynold's CPAs an active member of Tecumseh Chamber. I began my employment at Gibson & Reynolds as an administrative assistant and through education and hard work was promoted to bookkeeper and later on to Sr. Accountant. During the pandemic I decided to further my education and obtained a Master's of Business Administration degree which lead to my promotion as Marketing and Operations Manager. The experience and knowledge I've gained through working in various positions throughout this company will guide my decision making to help improve the growth and success of the chamber."

Now tell the membership a bit about you. Share your background, interests, hobbies, and other fun information.

My family moved to Tecumseh when I was in 3rd grade. I attended Tecumseh Christian Academy until is closure at which time I went on to graduate from Tecumseh High School. My parents owned and operated a local hamburger restaurant, Better Burger PTL located in Tecumseh Square Shopping Center. At the young age of 9 years old together with my parents and 2 older sisters we worked in the restaurant every summer, school holidays, and evenings. Some still remember the "Family Burger" which was a custom made hamburger and bun with approximately 16 inch diameter and could feed an entire family. Better Burger was known for the made to order specialty burgers such as pizza burger, hickory burger, and picante burger to name a few. I attribute my work ethic and continued love for a great hamburger to the many years growing up working in the family restaurant. I have 6 children and 7 grandchildren. My interests and hobbies include spending time with my family, camping, kayaking, fishing (really anything outdoors) playing games of all kinds, and traveling. One of my life goals is to travel to each of the 50 states. I enjoy running and I've ran several half marathons. including the OKC Memorial and my favorite destination race the Mount Rushmore half marathon. I love repurposing trash to treasures or creating something new and different.
